Your 2010 Houston Astros are looking to get back into playoffs not seen since 2005. The team lifted off this season with a number of new players to include Kevin Cash, Pedro Feliz, Cory Sullivan, Brett Myers, Brandon Lyon and Matt Lindstrom. Jettisoned from last year’s team were Aaron Boone, Chris Coste, Miguel Tejada, Darin Erstad, LaTroy Hawkins, Jose Valverde, Doug Brocail, and Mike Hampton.

The team’s strength this season looks to be its pitching rotation. At the top of the rotation is Roy Oswalt followed by Wandy Rodriguez, Brett Myers, Bud Norris and Felipe Paulino. But the team will need more than pitching; it will need solid defense to bolster their pitching. Getting rid of Miguel Tejada was a start (he had 30% of all team errors). Their biggest concerns are with the aging Astro bats that struggled to score last season, finishing 14th out of 16 NL teams in scoring.

Look for Brad Mills to maneuver his team through the season and at least lock up a playoff spot for a shot at the Fall Classic.
